Toyota Safety Education Programme (TSEP) champions road safety with ‘Child-to-Community Approach’

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) continues its commitment to road safety through the Toyota Safety Education Programme (TSEP) – “Road Safety – My Right My Responsibility.” The TSEP annual event, held at IISc, Bangalore, marked a significant milestone in fostering a safer road environment. With distinguished guests and TKM leadership in attendance, the event celebrated the culmination of TSEP’s efforts in creating road safety champions among school children.

TSEP adopts a unique ABC Approach – creating Awareness about road safety rules, fostering Behavioural Changes, and engaging in impactful Campaigns. This comprehensive program aims to instil a deep understanding of road safety, promote positive behavioural changes, and advocate for road safety practices within schools and communities. By providing road safety training to teachers and integrating it into school curriculum, TSEP ensures a sustainable approach to road safety education.

During the TSEP annual event, 31 schools participated in inter-school club activities, featuring competitive road safety-driven activities tailored for different grade levels. Themes included Poster Making, Road Safety Enactment, Mad Ad, Speech Competition, and Fact Video competition, encouraging active participation and learning. Winners were recognied for their contributions, highlighting their commitment to promoting road safety.

India faces a significant challenge with rising road accidents and fatalities, especially among young adults. TSEP’s visionary “Child to Community” approach aims to address this issue by empowering school children to become advocates of change within their communities. By instilling good road behaviour from an early age, TSEP contributes to the larger goal of achieving zero road fatalities.

M. N. Anucheth, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) – Government of Karnataka, commended TKM for its proactive efforts in promoting road safety. He emphasised the importance of initiatives like TSEP in fostering responsible road behaviour among school children and empowering them to drive change within their communities.

Sudeep S. Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer & Senior Vice President and Director – Toyota Kirloskar Motor, reiterated TSEP’s goal of empowering the next generation to be responsible road users. He highlighted the program’s success in reaching over 7,90,000 school children and its broader impact on road safety initiatives at national and global levels.

Through partnerships with schools, traffic police, and community stakeholders, TKM continues to expand the reach of TSEP, ensuring that road safety education reaches every corner of society. With a vision of zero road fatalities, TKM remains committed to creating a safer and more responsible road environment for all.
