Mazda seeks startups, software engineers at new Tokyo hub

TOKYO — Mazda Motor, headquartered in western Japan’s Hiroshima prefecture, has established a new office presence in Tokyo to help it hobnob with the metropolis’ startups and software engineers — key resources for riding the waves of electrification and digitization sweeping the auto industry.

The automaker’s new base, which opened Friday, looks down on the Japanese capital from the 33rd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower. Much of the space is dedicated to an open working space designed to encourage discussions and collaboration among employees and visitors. It is large enough to host about 80 people.
