Cruise hardware boss resigns

Will Cruise recover from the disaster? Now the startup’s hardware boss is also resigning.

The head of hardware at General MotorsCruise’s self-driving unit, Carl Jenkins, announced his resignation on Thursday after the company ceased operations in October.

Jenkins, who had been with the company for six years, left after operations in the US were suspended. After one Accident In October, in which a pedestrian in San Francisco was struck by another vehicle and struck by a self-driving Cruise car, California pulled the permit of the driverless vehicle company, and Cruise withdrew all of its self-driving vehicles from the United States.

Neither Jenkins nor Elshenawy gave a reason for the resignation. Elshenawy said in the internal memo that the autonomous vehicle platform team is critical to Cruise’s efforts to get its vehicles back on the road as soon as possible. A Cruise spokesperson confirmed Jenkins’ resignation and emphasized the company’s commitment to hardware and systems development in Cruise’s Bolt and Origin platforms.
