Amid resentment brewing in the industry over issues ranging from harsh regulations to expensive electricity, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann is expected to visit a four-day trade expo starting Feb 23 — a move being seen as an attempt by him to reach out to traders and industrialists in the city.
Though state govt is yet to make an announcement, organisers of 13th Mach Auto Expo said on Monday the CM had given the nod to visit the exhibition.
Mach Autp Expo, which will be held at Ludhiana Exhibition Centre in Sahnewal, is being organised by the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Association of Ludhiana Machine Tool Industries (ALMTI) and Auto Parts Manufacturers Association (APMA).
CICU chief Upkar Singh Ahuja said Mann had given an assurance of visiting the exhibition when he met the matter on Saturday. “It is not confirmed on which day he will visit,” said Ahuja.
He informed that delegates from Myanmar, Kyrgyzstan, Madagascar, Burundi, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Chad, Lesotho and other countries would be attending the expo to experience the products and services of local manufacturers. Mach Auto Expo, an exhibition of machine tools and automation technology in the region, is a platform to showcase innovation and advancement in industry. Around 650 exhibitors from across India and other 12 countries will display over 10,000 products and services.
