Seviora Capital partners Temasek to back agri-food companies

Singapore-based asset management group Seviora Capital has partnered with Temasek to jointly invest in late-venture and early-growth agri-food companies in the Asia Pacific region.

The fund, named ‘The Future of Food and Farming (T3F) Strategy’, comprises seed capital from Seviora and Temasek along with an investment by cornerstone investor Norinchukin Bank and other institutional investors, as per a release. Since August 2023, the Seviora T3F Strategy has raised $173 million.

In January the fund invested $17 million in Indian subscription-led online food delivery brand, Country Delight.

The Seviora T3F Strategy invests in high-growth agri-food companies in the APAC region that provide sustainable solutions and technologies to meet the challenges posed by demographic changes and fast-evolving consumer needs.

“Through this partnership with Seviora Group, we aim to scale capital and create value by investing in late venture and early growth agri-food companies across the APAC region that are at the forefront of innovation, leveraging technology to drive positive and sustainable change across the agri-food value chain,” said Anuj Maheshwari, head of agri-food at Temasek.

New Forests to invest in the restoration of Thailand’s Kuan Kreng Landscape

Sydney-headquartered New Forests, a global investment manager of nature-based real assets and natural capital strategies, will invest in conserving and restoring the Kuan Kreng Landscape (KKL) in Thailand.

New Forests will make the investment through its Tropical Asia Forest Fund 2 (TAFF2) in Thailand’s second-largest peat swamp forest area, according to a release.

KKL has an area of 70,715 hectares and spans three provinces in southern Thailand. Two-thirds of the forest is degraded due to drainage canal networks associated with agricultural land use.

New Forests has established a local entity, Restore Nature, that will seek to design and develop a carbon project to protect and restore degraded peatland and peat swamp forest in the landscape, improve biodiversity, and enhance local community livelihoods.

The groups involved in this project include the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation and other relevant organisations.
