N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, has been conferred the MMA-Amalgamations Business Leadership Award 2023 for his exceptional leadership, philanthropy and sterling contribution to industry and society.
The citation points out that Mr Chandrasekaran’s “visionary leadership has significantly contributed to the conglomerate’s expansion and progress, marked by strategic advancement, innovation, and steadfast commitment to ethical business conduct. His profound dedication to both the organization and its employees has been truly commendable.”
A Krishnamoorthy, Chairman of the Amalgamations Group, presented the prestigious award to N Chandrasekaran in the presence of Mallika Srinivasan, CMD, TAFE, and other eminent dignitaries including like R Seshasayee, Chairman, Asian Paints; S Gurumurthy, Corporate Advisor and Commentator on Economics, Finance and Politics, and Arvind Datar, Senior Advocate, Madras High Court. MMA President K.Mahalingam and Executive Director Gp. Capt. R. Vijayakumar (Retd), VSM welcomed the gathering and recognized N.Chandrasekar on behalf of the MMA.
N Chandrasekaran joins 19 other luminaries of Indian industry like JRD. Tata, Dr Verghese Kurien, Keshub Mahindra, Aditya V Birla, KM Mammen Mappillai, Brijmohan Lall Munjal, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Ratan Tata and Azim Premji, the recipients of this prestigious award. The MMA-Amalgamations Business Leadership Award has been honouring distinguished achievers in business and industry since 1969.
The eminent panellists for the 2023 edition of the Business Leadership Award include the Chairman of the selection panel, Azim Premji, Chairman of Wipro and members include R Seshasayee, Chairman of Asian Paints; Zia J Mody, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of AZB & Partners; M M Murugappan, Chairman of Carborundum Universal, and Harsh C.Mariwala, Chairman of Marico Ltd.
The MMA-Amalgamations Business Leadership Award was instituted in 1969 by the late A Sivasailam, Chairman of the Amalgamations Group in memory of his father S Anantharamakrishnan, the Founder of the Amalgamations Group. The Madras Management Association (MMA), which he co-founded along with other industrialists, is one of India’s premier management associations, dedicated to promoting management principles and practices. Founded in 1956, it aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of businesses and organisations in the region.
The Amalgamations Group is one of India’s largest light engineering groups, primarily focused on automobile components, engines, farm equipment and various other sectors including plantations, printing, book retail, fertilizers, engineering tools, and paints. The Group comprises 40 companies with manufacturing units spread across India and employs over 15,000 individuals, catering to a diverse range of customers from farmers to leading industries and businesses.
