To track sales of vehicles and ensure exemption is passed only on vehicles sold from the trade fair, Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC) has designed a GIS based application to monitor the sale of vehicles from the Vikram trade fair at Ujjain.
As an incentive, the state government has announced a 50% discount on the lifetime motor vehicle tax rate for non-transport and light transport vehicles sold at the fair.
A GIS based application “Parakh” geotags every vehicle and captures pictures as it reaches the warehouse for sale in the fair, thus helping in complete tracking of the vehicle from warehouse to the fair. The app helps in monitoring the stocks, sales details and dealer details among other relevant information to keep track of stocks and movement of vehicles. The mobile and web app is equipped to create dynamic forms for surveys, inspection, data collection and general forms.
“The idea is to keep a tab on tax evasion and ensure that the tax exemption is passed only to vehicles sold out from the venue of the trade fair. We designed the app in just 2 days and gave it to Ujjain RTO. Enabled with GIS technology for location based monitoring and capturing pictures, this app helps in tracking sales of vehicles and prevent tax evasion,” said Sandeep Goyal, Additional Project Director, MPSEDC.
Two dynamic forms were built in the app to monitor the dispatch of vehicles from the warehouse and to capture details of the vehicle and purchaser while sale. The app is used by the RTO and dealers.
A total of 1949 vehicles were sold until 3 pm on March 9, 2024, according to the data shown on the dashboard of the app.
