Steelbird Hi-Tech India, a prominent helmet manufacturer, is celebrating its 60th anniversary with ambitious plans for expansion and innovation. As part of its expansion plans, the helmet and accessories maker plans to invest Rs 250 crore in setting up a new manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, to meet the growing demand from OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and aftermarket.
Additionally, they aim to expand their manufacturing output by 50,000 units per day at their existing facility in Baddi. The company plans to launch 70 new helmet models this year with the aim to strengthen the brand’s presence in both the Indian and global markets.
As part of their 60th anniversary celebration, they introduced the SBA-17 RDX open-face helmet, featuring advanced safety features such as a durable thermoplastic shell, replaceable cheek pads, high-density EPS for impact protection, and a scratch-resistant polycarbonate visor with an integrated Inner Sun Shield. Early purchasers will receive a complimentary smoke visor, the company said in its release.
On the retail front, Steelbird is actively expanding its Riderz Shoppe network with the goal of adding 800 more stores by the end of 2025. These specialised outlets offer a wide range of helmets, riding apparel, and accessories, providing a personalized shopping experience for the biking community while promoting the use of ISI-certified helmets.
In 2023, Steelbird reported selling over 80 lakh helmets globally, resulting in revenue of Rs 687 crore. Rajeev Kapur, the Managing Director of Steelbird Hi-Tech India, expressed pride in the company’s achievements over the past 60 years. He highlighted their commitment to delivering exceptional products and promoting road safety.
