The Codacons initiative aimed at centers with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
An incentive to raise awareness of the excellence of the territories of the smaller centers of Italy, those over 5,500 agglomerations with fewer than five thousand inhabitants: with the aim of combating abandonment and depopulation. This is the aim of the “Small Friendly Municipality – 2024 Edition” project also supported by ACI and organized by Codacons.
The award – which takes place for the fourth consecutive year – aims, as mentioned, to promote knowledge of that Italy “of a thousand bell towers” which still today holds traditions and stories that deserve to be known and passed down. The initiative is divided into four sectors, within each of which three prizes will be awarded for a total of twelve small towns. The categories of the award are: agri-food, craftsmanship, social innovation, culture, art and history.
These are accompanied by other subsections: “small friendly airport”, “young agricultural entrepreneur”, “air, water, land”, “municipalities against high energy prices”, “municipalities for disabilities”, “municipalities for beekeeping”. Furthermore, an image competition was announced, called “the village in a photo”.
Furthermore, all participating organizations will be able to send the organizers an image and description of a meritorious, little-known work of art present in the municipal area. Municipalities that intend to participate – up for grabs are free promotional campaigns developed both in motorway service areas and via social networks – must sign up to “Piccolo Comune Amico – 2024 Edition” by 30 March.
To do this you can use the module present on the Codacons website. The awards ceremony will be held in Rome, at Palazzo Rospigliosi.
