Homage to Senna and the Hill of Passion

The “hill of passion” – populated with fans and flags, where the Prancing Horse dominates – and the Autodromo Tower, historical symbol of the sports facility, constitute the evocative backdrop of the official poster of the Formula 1 MSC Cruises Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix 2024, which will take place from 17 to 19 May 2024 at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola.

In the poster, characterized by the tricolor background, three drivers stand out, eagerly awaited at the Romagna event: Charles Leclerc, in his sixth season with the Maranello company, the three-time world champion Max Verstappen, who won the last two with Red Bull editions of the race and started the 2024 World Championship with two victories, and Lewis Hamilton, the most successful in the history of the World Championship, with 7 world titles, 103 successes and 104 pole positions. From 2025, the English driver, who triumphed at Imola in 2020, will wear the Ferrari suit.

Their figures, accompanied by their respective cars, are drawn to the right of the perimeter of the track. In particular, in the segment of the track that leads from Tosa to Piratella, the green, gold and blue of the Brazilian flag that appeared on Ayrton Senna’s helmet are hatched: a tribute to the three-time world champion who lost his championship on this track. life on May 1, 1994, thirty years ago.

“It’s very exciting to pick up where we left off: the day after the flood that prevented the 2023 Grand Prix from taking place, when everything was ready. The works made it possible to restore the perfect efficiency of the racetrack” – commented Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of the Automobile Club of Italy. “This is the result of a great effort made by Formula Imola, the Municipality of Imola and the Emilia-Romagna Region. We are convinced that it will be a beautiful Grand Prix, in a circuit that is very popular with the drivers, not only for its extraordinary history but also for its technical characteristics.”

“Formula 1 returns to the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack in Imola. A great sporting event that we are proud to host in the heart of the Emilia-Romagna Motor Valley, a unique district in the world, an unparalleled concentration of passion, talent and innovation – underlined the president of the Emilia Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini. “A return that takes on a particular meaning this year, after the cancellation of the competition last year due to the dramatic flood that hit Emilia-Romagna so hard. It is important that the spotlight is not turned off on this territory and sport, I am sure, will be able to give us important help in a year that sees Emilia-Romagna as the theater of events of absolute international appeal, starting with the Grande Partenza Florence/ Emilia-Romagna of the Tour de France, for the first time from Italy”.

“The diffusion of the poster is the moment in which we begin to feel the approach of the Grand Prix and all its emotions. This year, it is a hymn to Made in Italy and to the Motor Valley of our land, a celebration of the passion that accompanies Emilia-Romagna people, Italians and many people in attending Formula 1 races”, highlighted the mayor of Imola , Marco Panieri. “It is an emotion that can only be experienced and that this poster conveys effectively. This is why Imola is preparing with many events and initiatives and can’t wait to return to embrace the hundreds of thousands of fans and enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad, especially two years after a 2023 which, as we remember , saw us face very serious flood events that prevented the GP from taking place. Today we are ready to restart at full speed with even more passion and enthusiasm. Once again it will be an incredible opportunity for growth and visibility for the country system and with important economic, tourism and related spin-offs throughout the Region. I want to thank all the partner bodies of the event, in particular the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Emilia-Romagna Region: we are happy to share this journey together”.

Created by the ACI in full compliance with the international guidelines indicated by Formula 1, the poster also contains the symbols of the institutional partners.
