Hong Kong-headquartered Animoca Brands has backed US-headquartered blockchain platform XION, while Thailand-based healthcare firm HD has raised a $5.6-million Series A round.
Animoca Brands joins XION’s $25m funding round
Hong Kong-based blockchain gaming developer Animoca Brands has backed US-headquartered blockchain platform XION‘s $25-million funding round, according to an announcement.
Animoca Brands joins other investors, including Laser Digital (Nomura), Multicoin, Arrington Capital, Draper Dragon, Sfermion, and Golden Tree, in the round.
XION, which is simplifying the complexities of blockchain technology, said it will use the fresh funds to continue expanding its development and global ecosystem.
XION claims to be the first platform that enables developers to build, launch, and scale consumer-ready Web3 products from the ground up. It is also the first blockchain to integrate USDC—a fully reserved digital dollar—as its primary transactional currency.
The startup enhances user accessibility through its Meta Accounts, which allow for easy onboarding via familiar Web2 authentication methods like email or biometrics, without the need for users to manage private keys directly.
During Meta’s test phase, more than 1.3 million Meta Accounts have been registered and over 15 million transactions were processed, per the announcement.
Healthcare firm HD developing AI chatbot
Thailand-based healthcare firm HD is reportedly looking to develop an AI chatbot focusing on the healthcare sector after raising a $5.6 million Series A round recently.
According to a TechCrunch report, the round was led by SBI Ven Capital, the VC arm of Japan’s SBI group. Other firms said to have taken part were M Venture Partners, FEBE Ventures, Partech Partners, Ratio Ventures, Orvel Ventures, and TA Ventures.
Founded in 2019, the startup is essentially a marketplace for healthcare and surgery services, serving Thailand, Indonesia, and other countries in Southeast Asia.
HD reportedly said that 90% of the chat messages it receives are enquiries about product information, which it thinks can be handled by the AI chatbot it is planning to develop.
