Stellantis: the Hordain utility vehicle plant could resume service on May 7

Due to a strike at a supplier, the Stellantis factory in Hordain had been shut down since April 24. The group announced a possible reopening on May 7.

Since the start of the strike at MA France, supplier to the Stellantis factories, vehicle production has been at a standstill. Particularly on the northern Hordain site since April 24, where utility vehicles are produced. Despite the strike, the multinational automobile group announced that its production sites in Hordain and Luton (in England) could resume activity in the second week of May.

The CFTC Stellantis Hordain and FO confirm this hypothesis on their social networks. “The supply conditions are not yet met for the start of assembly this week. There will therefore be no production on Thursday May 2 and Friday May 3. We are working on a scenario allowing production to resume in the 3 URs of manufacturing from Monday May 6.”

The exact date still remains unclear. If the unions move forward to May 6. The Stellantis group is working on May 7, reports AFP.

Started on April 17, the MA France strike took Stellantis by surprise. Due to a lack of essential parts for vehicle production, three factories had to stop their activity: Possy (Yvelines), Hordain (North) and Luton (England).

At the beginning of April, there was already concern about the future of the Stellantis factory in Hordain:

If a spokesperson for the automobile group assured our colleagues at AFP that the sites would reopen “in the coming days”. “The production lines cannot resume without them [MA France, editor’s note], however, assures Farid Borsali, SUD Stellantis general secretary in Poissy. “It is impossible to produce cars, it’s pure bluff,” insists -he.
