The Bharat NCAP is set to announce a new set of results for its crash tests, six months after the road safety organisation announced the first results of the crash tests. BNCAP has teased the announcement of the next set of results on its social media.
Sources informed Autocar Professional that results for the second batch of models tested will be revealed this week, who also said that crash-test results on models from a number of mainstream car and SUV brands will be announced.
Rahul Bharti, Head of Corporate Affairs, had said in a recent earnings investor call that Maruti Suzuki has submitted three models to BNCAP and that results were expected soon. All the models are estimated to have achieved “top ratings”, the sources cited earlier.
Explaining the 6-month gap
As the model code of conduct imposed during the general elections had come into effect, no new test announcement was made. However, government authorities, fearing the programme will run out of steam, have advised the manufacturers not to wait until the code of conduct ends on June 4, and instead, go ahead with the announcement of the results.
