The presentation of the first of the two Italian stages of the Formula 1 World Championship took place at the headquarters of the Emilia-Romagna Region, with the participation of the Presidents of ACI, ICE, the Emilia-Romagna Region, Ferrari Trento and the Mayor of Imola.
Sticchi Damiani: “A beautiful moment for Imola and the entire country”
“I think this is a really good moment for Imola, our country, the whole world of motorsport and Formula 1 in particular – comments Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of the Automobile Club of Italy -. We overcame problems and difficulties, but we can say that we did it and we are happy and ready to enjoy the unique spectacle of an extraordinary Grand Prix, certain that the stands will be filled with cheering and passion.”
Bonaccini: “The Grand Prix is a unique opportunity to promote our excellence”
“Emilia-Romagna – underlines Stefano Bonaccini, president of the Emilia-Romagna Region – is ready to host Formula 1 again. We are proud to once again welcome the drivers, teams and fans for one of the most important sporting events of our sports calendar. The Grand Prix is a unique opportunity to promote the excellence of Emilia-Romagna and our country. Thanks to consolidated institutional and local teamwork, Imola is now a stable event in the F1 calendar. After the cancellation of last year’s test due to the flood that hit this land hard, Emilia-Romagna, land of engines and automotive excellence, is happy to once again welcome the great circus and the numerous enthusiasts ”.
Zoppas: “Next to Imola to promote the territory and the Made in Italy supply chain”
“A first thought goes to a year ago, to the flood that hit these areas, for which the government, at the urging of Minister Tajani, allocated over 700 million euros just as a country system – underlines Matteo Zoppas, president of ICE -. ICE, together with SACE and Simest, has taken action to help affected entrepreneurs resume or strengthen export activities. Precisely because we want to continue to help the territory, we are alongside the Imola GP to link this event to the promotion of Made in Italy, through what we call growth diplomacy and sport diplomacy. The story that can be told through the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, capable of potentially reaching 1 billion audiences, is that of the excellence of the automotive sector which as a whole in 2023 exceeded the 80 billion in turnover and reached 46 billion in exports (+15% on 2022 and +26.7% on 2019). A union therefore, that between the Imola GP and the Made in Italy supply chain, which, through the Emilian Motor Valley, represents and identifies the innovation, originality and myth of our productions. F1 and the Imola GP are the context in which the recovery of a hundredth of a second is worth significant investments in research and development and this characterizes the qualifying approach of Made in Italy and the strategic role of technology for the automotive sector and beyond ”.
Panieri: “Significant investments made, city ready for an important showcase like F1”
“The F1 GP is approaching and Imola is ready, both with new investments on the track and in the city – comments Marco Panieri, mayor of Imola – in particular on the 1500 m axis from the station to the Autodrome, and with initiatives, events , exhibitions and evening proposals with music, food and entertainment in the historic center and beyond, in the name of Made in Italy and the Motor Valley brand. It will be a shared, broad, dynamic celebration, which will involve all of Imola, promoting our local, regional and national excellence thanks to an international showcase such as that of Formula 1, which we are strengthening through the territorial project of Terre&Motori with the Con.Ami Consortium and collaborating with the Ministries, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the ICE Agency and other partners. Once again the deep connection between the city and its circuit is confirmed, which this year too can be easily reached either by car or on foot from the train station, to reach which special trains will be added on this occasion. The invitation is to come to Imola, to enjoy an authentic and exciting Formula 1, on a historic track, to take part and give strength to a great return of a territory that after the floods of 2023, which turned life upside down a year ago of thousands of people and families, restarted with tenacity. Already in the days before the Grand Prix the city will experience other important moments, including the delivery of the Key to the City to Stefano Domenicali. Furthermore, after the commemoration of May 1st, this year there will be ad hoc initiatives for fans and enthusiasts to remember the drivers Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger, thirty years after their passing. An appointment with history that will be unmissable for many and that Imola wanted to celebrate as it deserves.”
Lunelli: “Let’s remember Senna with a social project”
“We are particularly pleased to celebrate this Grand Prix with our Trentodoc bubbles, to which we have dedicated a special edition of the Ferrari F1 Edition series. First of all because it is dedicated to Made in Italy, of which we are proud ambassadors in the world, but also because we want to remember a great champion like Ayrton Senna and contribute to a social project which, thanks to him, has changed the lives of thousands of young people”, stated Matteo Lunelli, President and CEO of Ferrari Trento.
