There are over 140 Tesla Cybertrucks for sale om the “used” market and the prices are all over the place.
As we previously reported, Tesla did its best to discourage the reselling of early Cybertrucks, but it didn’t completely stop it.
The automaker added a no-resale clause to its order agreement and blacklisted some owners who listed their early Cybertrucks for sale.
It didn’t stop some from making a significant profit – sometimes selling Cybertrucks for twice their MSRP.
However, the days of making over $100,000 in profit selling the Cybertruck are gone.
That’s because many more are now available for sale in the used market after Tesla ramped up deliveries. Last month, we learned, thanks to a recall, that Tesla produced just short of 4,000 Cybertrucks since the beginning of production in November 2023.
The automaker also confirmed that it produced 1,000 Cybertrucks in a single week in April – confirming that the production ramp is happening.
With the electric pickup truck becoming less of a rarety, the used inventory is going up and the prices are going down.
CarGurus is currently listing 148 Tesla Cybertrucks for sale in the US:
Most of them appear to be very low mileage (under 1,000 miles), which would seem that they are owned by people looking to slip them, but there are also quite a few over 1,000 miles – meaning that they could be from people who drove them for a while and decided against keeping them.
The prices have come down quite a bit, with several Cybertrucks in the $120,000 range, which is still $20,000 over the MSRP to be fair.
A handful of owners are still trying to get $200,000 for their Cybertrucks, but it isn’t likely to happen since we have seen the truck go for only about $150,000 in big auctions.
Electrek’s Take
The Cybertruck’s uniqueness factor compensated a lot fo its price coming much higher than originally announced and its specs below what was announced.
But that “uniqueness” factor fades as more vehicles are getting delivered.
On top of that, there’s quite a limited market for trucks over $100,000.
The Cybertruck program appears to still be riding its early buzz, but it is going to need its cheaper trims to be able to start really ramping up.
