LeapFrog Investments has appointed Souleymane Ba as co-head of climate strategy, while Eastspring Investments has named Yap Siok Hoon as CEO of its Malaysia unit.
LeapFrog names Souleymane Ba as co-head of climate
LeapFrog Investments has strengthened its climate team with the appointment of Souleymane Ba as partner and co-head of its climate strategy. Souleymane assumes this position alongside Nakul Zaveri who joined LeapFrog in November 2022.
Previously, Souleymane served as a partner and member of the executive committee and investment committee at Just Climate. Prior to this, he was a partner at Helios Investment Partners, supporting companies that provided essential services across Africa’s food, agriculture, financial inclusion and distributed infrastructure sectors. He has spent nearly a decade in principal investing and investment banking in the US, notably at Warburg Pincus and Carlyle Group, where he focused on industrials, including transportation and energy storage, key sectors in the green transition.
The firm has also made a couple of other senior announcements to help support its pledge to invest $500 million for green tools and technologies in emerging markets.
Gina Domanig has been appointed as an independent member of the Climate Investment Committee, while Steve Howard, Mike Berners-Lee and Damilola Ogunbiyi, were named to LeapFrog’s Climate Advisory Board to provide guidance and networking capabilities for the climate investment team and portfolio companies.
Eastspring appoints Yap Siok Hoon as CEO of Malaysia unit
Eastspring Investments, the Asia asset management arm of insurance company Prudential, has appointed Yap Siok Hoon as the CEO of its Malaysia business.
According to the company’s website, Yap who has 26 years of financial industry experience, was also appointed as Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director on May 15.
She joined Eastspring in 2013 as chief of sales and marketing. Prior to Eastspring, she worked at a fund management company and started her career with Hong Leong Asset Management in 1997, eventually becoming a general manager of the group in 2011.
