Dacia, the Renault Group’s mass-market vehicle brand, has launched its All-New Spring EV in the UK, where it will start from £14,995 (€16,900 / $19,100) or £163 ($208 / €191) per month on a 3.9% APR four-year lease with a £2,325 ($2,969 / €2,732) deposit. In offering the EV at a lower cost than similar solutions available in the UK market, Dacia is aiming to appeal to consumers who cite high initial purchase prices as a barrier to EV adoption.
The All-New Spring EV is available in two trims, Expression and Extreme, with two powertrain options for each version, Electric 45 or Electric 65 – the former is based on a 45 hp (33 kW) electric motor, while the latter leverages a 65 hp (48 kW) motor. Both versions utilize a 26.8 kWh battery, which Dacia says can be charged from 20% to 100% in four hours with a 7 kW home charger, and up to 48 kW when fast charging on DC. It is ultimately designed for everyday usability with an estimated range of 140 miles (225 km) on the WLTP mixed cycle or 186 miles (299 km) on the WLTP urban cycle.
Representing the entry-level trim of the new Spring, Expression is available with either powertrain choice and a range of standard equipment. Inside, it offers a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch central infotainment screen, and a media control system (with a USB port) as well as a 12V socket. In terms of safety, the supermini has cruise control and rear parking sensors equipped as standard. Exclusively paired to Electric 65, the Extreme trim builds on the features and technologies provided in Expression while adding a 10-inch Media Nav Live multimedia system, a second USB port, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and bi-directional charging.
Following the Expression 45, the full pricing structure for the new Spring EV continues with the Spring Expression 65, which starts at £15,995 ($20,429 / €18,796) when paid in full, with leasing options available for £235 ($300 / €352) per month with a £235 deposit, or £189 ($241 / €222) per month with a £2,673 ($3,414 / €3,141) deposit.
The Spring Extreme 65 then starts at £16,995 ($21,706 / €19,971) upfront, with leasing options available for £246 ($314 / €289) per month with a £246 deposit, or £189 ($241 / €222) per month with a £2,763 ($3,528 / €3,141) deposit. Alongside these pricing options, Dacia will also allow customers to add a home charger to their Spring EV. Offered through the Renault Group’s charging business, Mobilize Power Solutions, this charger will be available through a subscription model for under £20 ($25 / €23) per month.
