Woodcliff Lake, NJ – June 16, 2024…The big news entering Round 4 of MotoAmerica’s Superbikes at Brainerd, Minnesota weekend was Australian Superbike Champion and current King of the Baggers points leader, Troy Herfoss, replacing the injured Cameron Beaubier to champion the second, No. 28, BMW M 1000 RR with Tytlers Cycle Racing. It was Jayson Uribe and his OrangeCat Racing M 1000 RR however who would make news and deliver the first BMW win, and Jayson’s first MotoAmerica win, of the season in the Steel Commander Stock 1000 Series. Photo by Brian J NelsonMedallia Superbikes Race 1 saw 22-year old Sean Dylan Kelly start from the second row on his No. 40 EasyHealthPlans.com/TopPro Racing Team BMW M 1000 RR, followed by the Tytlers Cycle Racing pair of JD Beach (No. 95) and Troy Herfoss (No. 28), who started from the 3rd and 4th rows, respectively. Kelly had an excellent start and moved up one position, into 3rd at the first corner. JD Beach held 7th position and Herfoss 9th heading into Lap 2. On Lap 5 however, Kelly was forced to relinquish the 3rd and final podium position and was pushed back to 4th. By Lap 10, the front group of five, including Kelly, had broken away from the rest of the pack and were battling for the top spot amongst themselves. At the checkered flag, it was Sean Dylan Kelly 4th, JD Beach 7th and Troy Herfoss 9th. Spectators of the second Superbike race would see a scary moment for Sean Dylan Kelly on lap 5 when he slid out and was thrown off the bike as it snapped back in the other direction. Tytlers Cycle Racing riders JD Beach and Troy Herfoss would finish 6th and 8th respectively while Aftercare Scheibe Racing BMW rider Ezra Beaubier would work himself through the field to finish 10th. Steel Commander Stock 1000 In the Stock 1000 class, OrangeCat Racing teammates Jayson Uribe (No. 360) and Travis Wyman (No. 10) started Saturday’s Race 1 from rows 2 and 4 with Danilo Lewis on his No. 94 Team Brazil BMW joining Uribe on row 2. Uribe battled for 3rd throughout the 11-lap race before finally finishing 4th. Wyman would finish the first race in 6th while fellow BMW riders Nolan Lamkin would finish 9th on his No. 21 Visit Indiana/Tom Wood Powersports BMW and Andrew Lee on his No. 140 Motorsport Exotica BMW would finish 10th. Jayson Uribe and Danilo Lewis would start Sunday’s race from Row 2 while Travis Wyman and Nolan Lamkin would begin from Row 4. Uribe attacked from the beginning and had moved himself into P2 by lap 4. Danilo Lewis, in P6, led a small group of BMW riders which included Nolan Lamkin and Travis Wyman. Unfortunately, reigning Superbike Cup points champion, Nolan Lamkin, would slide out, relegating himself to a 14th place finish. Uribe made his move on the final lap of the race, capturing the first BMW win in the Stock 1000 class this season and his first ever win in MotoAmerica. Danilo Lewis and Team Brazil held on to finish in P5, Travis Wyman would finish in P7, and Alex Arango and his EasyHealthPlans.com/TopPro Racing Team BMW would finish in P10. Photo by Brian J Nelson 2024 Championship Standings Sean Dylan Kelly becomes the top BMW Superbike season points rider and is in 6th place. Cameron Beaubier moves to 7th place and JD Beach is in 8th. His race win catapults Jayson Uribe into 2nd place overall in the Stock 1000 class with Danilo Lewis in 7th, Travis Wyman in 8th and Nolan Lamkin in 10th. Danilo Lewis now leads the Superbike Championship Cup points race followed by Nolan Lamkin in 3rd and Alex Arango in 6th.
