Chalo expands fleet by 44% to meet Mumbai’s growing commuter demands, explores new routes

Chalo, operating the luxury AC BEST Chalo Bus service under license from BEST, has experienced a 50% growth in ridership over the last three months, reaching an average of 10,000 daily commuters on weekdays. In response to this surge in demand, Chalo is expanding its fleet by 44%, adding new electric luxury AC buses and increasing the total network size to 144 buses. This investment will boost the frequency of trips on popular routes such as Belapur-Colaba (via MTHL-Atal Setu), Thane-Andheri, Thane-BKC, and Navi Mumbai-BKC, with trip increases ranging from 15% to 40%.

The Belapur-Colaba route, which connects Navi Mumbai to Colaba via the new MTHL-Atal Setu and Eastern Freeway, has seen significant popularity. To accommodate this, Chalo is increasing trips on this route by 50%. Additionally, Chalo is exploring new all-day and weekend routes to cater to a broader audience across Mumbai.

Chalo’s monthly travel plans have also gained traction among commuters, offering convenience and flexibility with options ranging from 10 to 45 trips. The 45-trip plan remains the most popular, followed by the 25-trip plan. In response to public demand, Chalo has introduced route-specific passes, which have been well-received by customers.

Mohit Dubey, CEO of Chalo shared “With the introduction of new travel plans and fleet expansion, Chalo will be adding new all-day and weekend routes as well which will provide seamless and affordable public transport experience across Mumbai”.
