The Iveco Crossway has been recognized with the prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design 2024 for its brand-new front end and dashboard. The award ceremony took place yesterday at the Red Dot Museum in Essen, Germany.
Each year, a jury panel of about 40 international experts from various specialized fields rewards the best products based on their functionality, aesthetics, ease of use, sustainability, and responsibility
The new front end and dashboard were developed by Iveco Bus’s design team based in Vénissieux, in collaboration with the Iveco Group Centro Stile of Turin. The study illustrates the use of design applied to a public transport, aimed at improving the user experience and making the vehicle more attractive to better fit into its environment.
Past forward: heritage styling for latest model
The new front end takes its styling cues from Iveco’s heritage, such as the new logo dominating a grille with simple, clean lines. Its design expresses dynamism and confidence, reflecting a high level of quality perceived by transport operators and passengers in terms of reliability and safety. It cleverly integrates the new LED lights as well as the new ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) devices in compliance with the GSR (General Safety Regulation) scheduled to come into force in July 2024.
The exterior design of the front end is complemented by a new dashboard focused on ergonomics and safety, with controls within easy reach of the driver, allowing them to operate the main functions without taking their hands off the wheel.
Alexandre Verwilghen, Iveco Bus designer, said: ” We are very proud to receive this prestigious award for the design of our Crossway new style. It is the recognition that we have managed to offer a design that meets the new regulatory standards to improve user safety while giving a charismatic and distinctive style to our new range.”
