Once again, it’s the Toyota Yaris that has won the most produced car on the territory in 2017. If it is ahead of three Peugeot models, this situation could evolve in 2018 with the spectacular breakthrough of the car. 3008.
The Toyota Yaris can more than ever be proud to be a vehicle “made in France”. According to the latest firm data Inovev, this is indeed the model that was the most produced last year on the territory, with no less than 233,652 copies of Yaris outputs of the Onnaing plant, in the Hauts-de-France. And despite a decline in production of 1.8% compared to 2016, it has largely outstripped the local productions of Peugeot 3008, 2008 and 308.
“It’s the sharp decline of the Peugeot 308 that has allowed the Toyota Yaris to remain in first place in 2017,” notes Inovev. Year-over-year, local Yaris production fell by 1.8%, but the 308 dropped by 19.3%. On the other hand, with 21,247 vehicles produced, that of the 3008 jumped 162%! This model thus ranked in second position of the most produced vehicles in France in 2017, far ahead of the production of the 2008 (198,247 units).
So, say, that the Toyota Yaris could lose its first place in 2018. “The year 2018 will be more difficult for the Yaris because the dynamics of sales of the Peugeot 3008 suggests that it could well occupy the first place this year “, confirms Inovev. And she does not really have to worry about the Renault and Citroën brands. “The Renault Clio are mainly manufactured in Turkey and the Citroën C3 in Slovakia,” continues Inovev. As for the Peugeot 208, it is mostly made in Slovakia.
