Of the VolkswagenGroup has delivered more vehicles in 2017 than ever before. The car manufacturer handed over 10.74 million vehicles to customers around the world, as the company announced on Wednesday in Wolfsburg. That was 4.3 percent more than a year earlier. In December alone, VW delivered 8.5 million more vehicles with almost one million cars.

Things were particularly good for the Wolfsburg in Eastern Europe in 2017, China and in the USA. In Germany, where the diesel crisis had put a strain on sales, VW was able to increase its numbers in December compared to the same month last year. For the full year, however, there was a slight decline.

In 2016, Volkswagen, including its two truck subsidiaries MAN and Scania, delivered 10.3 million vehicles worldwide. Last December alone, the Group increased deliveries by 8.5 percent to just under one million units.

The Japanese rival Toyota Already announced in December that he expects worldwide sales of 10.35 million vehicles in 2017. That would be a year-on-year increase of two percent. For 2018, Toyota has made 10.5 million deliveries.

Volkswagen has not yet overcome the homemade diesel scandal. The reparation of the millions exhaust-Manipulation cost the group more than 25 billion euros and will lead to further burdens this year. But away from the legacy, the business runs around. The carmaker benefits from the fact that he is present worldwide with twelve brands and thus can compensate for cyclical fluctuations.
