Climatetech startup Nika.eco and South Korean VFX firm Beeble AI have secured seed funding.
Silverstrand Capital leads Nica.eco’s seed round
Nika.eco, a Singapore-based startup that uses AI to track forest carbon, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in its seed round, according to an announcement.
The oversubscribed round was anchored by Singapore-headquartered impact investor Silverstrand Capital and backed by Timbul Ventures, DMV Investments, Orvel Ventures, and Ascend Network.
Nica said it will use the fresh funds to launch its geospatial infrastructure technology as a standalone SaaS product. The said product can lower costs and technological barriers to developing other types of climate models.
The startup was founded by Johan Wah and Lawrence Xiao to create advanced climate models for determining carbon credit issuance. The company said its audit-grade models are used by financial institutions, including Carbon Growth Partners and major European Banks.
VFX startup Beeble AI bags $4.75m funding
Beeble AI, a South Korea-based startup that has developed virtual lighting solutions for filmmakers and visual effects artists, has raised $4.75 million in seed funding.
The round, which was led by Basis Set Ventures and participated by Fika Ventures, values Beeble AI at $25 million, TechCrunch reported.
Beeble AI was founded in 2022. Its main product is SwitchLight Studio, a desktop app that offers relighting and composition within virtual environments. It redefines VFX and compositing, integrating AI and physically-based rendering to allow filmmakers to change lighting at post-production
The startup’s product aims to address the high cost of creating Hollywood-level visual effects, thus levelling the playing field in the film industry.
