As the proverb goes, give someone a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach them to fish, and they’ll never have to leave a ball in the drink again (or something like that). This Callaway ball retriever reminds me of my high school golf days when my friends and I would spend hours grabbing golf balls from the pond at our municipal course. This one includes a potential 15-foot extension, a metal scoop, and even a head cover to class things up a bit.
Now, I’m not telling you to keep balls that aren’t yours when you find them gleaming invitingly in the muddy surf just offshore. It’s usually against the rules to use a retriever for grabbing any but your own balls. Of course, what you do in your free time, and just how many balls you’ve paid for in your bag, is between you and your maker. What I will say is golf balls can be very pricey, and there are few things more satisfying than retrieving a once-lost asset from the vexing pool that just cost you a precious stroke.
