GoPowerEV, a California provider of EV charging stations for multifamily residences, has received a $4.1 million grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) through the Reliable, Equitable and Accessible Charging for Multi-family Housing 2.0 (REACH 2.0) program.
The grant will be used to advance deployment of EV charging infrastructure in approximately 30 Southern California disadvantaged and low-income communities. The funding is part of a potential larger grant including Northern California, for a total of $6.2 million.
GoPowerEV’s personal EV charging station, which allows residents to charge in their assigned parking spaces, was selected from 30 proposals because it offers the greatest number of charging ports for the investment. Its energy management software reduces the load on the grid at peak times and reduces the need to upgrade electrical service by optimizing the use of off-peak power.
“Without the CEC grant and the partnership with GoPowerEV, we would not have been able to provide EV charging to our low-income residents,” said Auriana Melson, Asset Manager for West Hollywood Community Housing, a nonprofit community housing development organization.
