Kia India, focused on the SUV category, reported domestic dispatches of 20,507 units, marking a year-over-year (Y-O-Y) growth of 2.5% compared to 20,002 units in July 2023.
The newly launched Kia Sonet emerged as the top contributor to the July 2024 sales, with an impressive 9,459 units sold. Following closely were the Kia Carens and Seltos, with 5,679 and 5,347 units sold, respectively.
Kia’s performance in July 2024 also surpassed the industry average significantly. According to Vahan, Kia recorded a remarkable 26% growth, far outpacing the industry average of 9% for the month.
Beyond domestic success, Kia India also achieved substantial milestones in the international market. The company exported 2,500 units in July 2024, with the Seltos contributing 932 units, and the Sonet and Carens adding 740 and 833 units, respectively, to the overseas dispatches. This global demand for ‘Make in India’ vehicles reflects Kia’s strong international brand reputation and manufacturing excellence.
Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President and National Head of Sales & Marketing, Kia India, called July’s performance a “good head-start” for the Q3 and H2 of the year.
“We are determined to maintain this momentum throughout the year, which should give us all confidence in our future success.”
Kia India, a subsidiary of the global automotive giant Kia Corporation, began its journey in the Indian market in April 2017 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the State Government of Andhra Pradesh. This MOU paved the way for the establishment of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Anantapur District. The facility commenced mass production in August 2019 and boasts an impressive annual production capacity of 300,000 units.
Kia India’s product lineup includes five vehicles specifically suited for the Indian market: the Seltos, Carnival, Sonet, Carens, and the electric vehicle EV6. The company achieved a milestone of over 1.2 million vehicle dispatches from its Anantapur plant, with more than 9.8 lakh domestic sales and over 2.5 lakh exports. With over 4 lakh connected cars on Indian roads, Kia India is one of the prominent players in this segment.
The brand has established a widespread network of 588 touchpoints across 265 cities.
