Munich. BMW M Motorsport and BMW M Team RMG will part ways at the end of the current season. After 14 years together, the collaboration with Team Principal Stefan Reinhold concludes on a high note, a podium at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring (GER) for Dan Harper (GBR), Max Hesse (GER), and Charles Weerts (BEL) a few weeks ago. The greatest joint successes for BMW M Motorsport and BMW M Team RMG were two drivers’ championships and one team title in the DTM.

Reinhold Motorsport GmbH was founded to prepare for BMW M Motorsport’s DTM comeback in the 2012 season. Between 2012 and 2020, BMW M Team RMG competed in 140 DTM races with the BMW M3 DTM and the BMW M4 DTM, celebrating 19 victories during that time. In 2014 and 2016, RMG achieved two drivers’ titles with Marco Wittmann (GER), as well as the team title in 2014. Since the 2021 season, BMW M Team RMG has been involved in GT racing at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring with the BMW Junior Team and has also served as the official test team for BMW M Motorsport. In this role, it played a significant part in the development of the BMW M Hybrid V8, the BMW M4 GT3, and the BMW M4 GT4.

In the last year of their collaboration, BMW M Team RMG achieved the long-awaited first podium at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring a few weeks ago with Gen2K drivers Harper, Hesse, and Weerts. The #72 BMW M4 GT3 started from pole position and finished the race in third place. BMW M Team RMG will continue to fulfill its duties regularly until the end of the year.

Andreas Roos (Head of BMW M Motorsport): “I would like to thank Stefan Reinhold and his team for 14 years of collaboration. During my time as head of BMW M Motorsport, I have come to know BMW M Team RMG as an ambitious operational and valuable and reliable test team that has made a very important contribution to the development of our race cars. Of course, the joint title wins in the DTM will remain unforgettable from a sporting perspective. I am pleased to have experienced another sporting highlight live with the podium at this year’s 24h Nürburgring. Unfortunately, our plans for our future set-up do not provide a common perspective. Therefore, our collaboration will end with the conclusion of the current season. I wish the team all the best!”
