Amara Raja Hosts second edition of Conclave on Battery Technology, EVOLVE

Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M), hosted the second edition of its flagship event, ‘EVOLVE 2024’, on Advanced Battery Technologies.

This year, the event focused on the theme ‘Energy Transition: Future-Ready and India-Centric.’

The Chief Guest for the event, Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa and Former CEO of NITI Ayog in his address said, “As we stand on the brink of a transformative era in energy storage and mobility, with 2023 marking the hottest year on record, the urgency to decarbonise and achieve energy independence has never been clearer. India has a unique opportunity to lead the world in urbanising and industrialising through low-carbon technologies.

We must leapfrog to final solutions – electric vehicles, battery storage, green hydrogen – rather than settling for intermediate steps. The future demands bold actions, and India will rise to the challenge, driving innovation, securing energy independence, and setting the global standard.”

This year’s event underscored the potential longevity of Lithium-ion batteries, the opportunities and challenges of establishing India as a global manufacturing hub, the importance of modular and cost-effective manufacturing, and the role of new-age technologies in scaling battery production. Additionally, the discussions also explored funding strategies for gigafactories and long-term opportunities that India offers.

The event saw key representatives from industry as speakers including Steven Cai, President of Gotion EMEA Region, Dr Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Sunit Kapur, CEO, Epsilon Advanced Materials, Gopal Mahadevan, Director- Strategic Finance and M&A, Ashok Leyland among many others who contributed valuable insights on the energy transition and future battery technologies.
