By 2025, it is expected to reach a market size of $17 billion, driven by the increasing number of vehicles on the road and the rising average vehicle age. Currently, over 300 million vehicles are navigating India’s roads, with this number increasing at an annual rate of 8-10%. The burgeoning middle class, armed with higher disposable incomes, is a significant driver of this growth. As more individuals can afford vehicles, the demand for reliable servicing and maintenance escalates, presenting a massive opportunity for the industry.

Despite the promising growth prospects, the industry faces several challenges. The highly fragmented nature of the sector is a primary concern. There are thousands of small, unorganised players who lack the resources and expertise to provide consistent, high-quality service. This fragmentation leads to a lack of standardisation and trust among consumers.

Training programs that certify mechanics can bridge the skill gap and improve service standards across the industry. Mobile apps that allow customers to book services, track their vehicle status, and receive real-time updates, along with the use of data analytics to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement, are examples of how technology can streamline operations.

For example, some companies have serviced millions of vehicles and expanded their networks to hundreds of workshops across multiple cities in India.
