Evera Cabs, an all-electric cab service provider in Delhi-NCR, has announced the appointment of Saurabh Kumar as an Independent Director. Kumar’s role will focus on guiding the company’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and improve customer satisfaction through strategic oversight.
Kumar brings over 30 years of experience in sustainable energy and efficiency to the position. His responsibilities will include aligning the company with its strategic objectives and vision, implementing governance practices, and developing green energy-based mobility solutions. Additionally, he will contribute to strengthening Evera’s governance framework and ensuring ethical business conduct and compliance.
Regarding his appointment, Kumar stated that urban mobility can help reduce the growing carbon footprint without compromising efficiency and convenience. He expressed the need to integrate sustainable energy solutions into transportation systems at scale, noting that Evera is well-positioned to address this need. Kumar aims to guide Evera towards innovative solutions that address gaps in energy optimisation and fleet efficiency, with the goal of expanding green mobility reach and setting new industry standards.
Nimish Trivedi, Founder and CEO of Evera, welcomed Kumar to the team, highlighting his expertise in sustainable energy and policy implementation as crucial for Evera’s future plans. Trivedi noted that Kumar’s strategic skills will be valuable in addressing the challenges of scaling electric fleets in the densely populated Delhi-NCR region. With Kumar’s addition, Evera aims to enhance its technology infrastructure and expand into new markets.
Kumar currently serves as the Vice President – India for the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP). His career began with the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), where he focused on intelligence assignments. He has held key positions in the Indian government, including roles in the Union Ministry of Power and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). As Vice Chairperson & MD of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), Kumar led the implementation of several energy efficiency programs.
He is known for spearheading the world’s largest non-subsidized distribution program of LED lamps under the ‘Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All’ (Ujala) scheme. Kumar holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and a master’s in public policy from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo, Japan.
