LeafyBus has unveiled plans to deploy 50 electric buses in the coming 12 months. The new fleet is scheduled to operate on various routes across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, with intentions to expand into Eastern and Southern India in the future.
To facilitate this expansion, LeafyBus has entered into a partnership with JBM Electric Vehicles (P) Ltd. Under this agreement, LeafyBus is set to acquire a total of 200 electric buses from JBM. The initial phase will see the introduction of 50 buses in the first year, followed by the remaining 150 in the subsequent year. These buses are reportedly designed to address the increasing demand for improved transportation options throughout India.
The new electric buses from LeafyBus are said to include several features aimed at enhancing passenger safety and comfort. These include CCTV surveillance, live tracking, and the presence of a “Bus buddy” to assist customers on board.
The company states that all buses will adhere to safety standards, incorporating Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). LeafyBus also reports that high standards of interior cleanliness will be maintained to ensure passenger comfort.
LeafyBus claims to address the entire consumer journey by offering what they describe as a hassle-free travel experience for all customer segments. The new buses are said to feature high-speed chargers, inspired by international best practices, and larger battery sizes for long-range travel. The company states that maintenance support will be available across North India.
Rohan Dewan, CEO and Founder of LeafyBus, commented on the expansion, stating that the collaboration with JBM EV represents a significant step towards transforming transportation in India.
Animesh Sharma, CIO and Co-Founder, mentioned the company’s focus on developing tech solutions to improve electric bus operations and booking systems.
