Maruti S-Presso, Alto K10 prices marginally cut amid decline in sales

Maruti Suzuki has slashed prices for the Alto K10 and the S-Presso. The Rs 2,000 price cut applies to the entire S-Presso line-up, while the top-spec VXI variant of the Alto K10 has seen a reduction of Rs 6,500 (ex-showroom).

Maruti’s total domestic passenger vehicle wholesales were recorded at 1,43,075 units for August 2024, marking an 8 percent decline from 1,56,114 units in the same month in 2023. Maruti’s entry-level models are seeing a downtrend in sales. Both models, the Alto K10 and the S-Presso, had a combined sales figure of 12,209 units in August 2023. This number is now down by around 13 percent, as it stands at 10,648 as of August 2024.

Looking at the sales trajectory for the Alto K10, Maruti’s entry-level hatchback clocked 12,395 unit sales in January 2024. Since then, sales have gradually declined, with 9,043 units sold in April 2024 and a further drop to 7,353 units in July 2024.

For the S-Presso, the situation is similar: the high-riding hatchback saw 3,454 unit sales in January 2024, which declined to 2,476 units in April but slightly increased to 2,607 units in June.

To push sales of its entry-level models, Maruti Suzuki introduced the Dream Edition line-up in June this year. The limited-run sales campaign has been extended further and is expected to continue until Diwali.

Prices for the S-Presso now start at Rs 4.26 lakh (ex-showroom) and go upto Rs 5.95 lakh. The Alto K10, on the other hand, starts at Rs 3.99 lakh lakh and goes up to Rs 5.80 lakh.
