Zomato recently organised its EV Bazaar 2024 at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi, with the objective of the company’s goal of achieving 100% electric deliveries by 2030.
The event, which was attended by Kailash Gahlot, Minister of Transport, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, focused on providing delivery partners with information about the benefits of electric vehicles (EVs) and helping them make informed decisions based on their individual needs.
Key industry stakeholders, including EV two-wheeler manufacturers, fleet operators, charge point providers, and financing experts, participated in the event. Companies such as Quantum Energy, Kinetic Green, Bounce Infinity, Lectrix, Hero, TVS, Ola, Ampere, Battfit, Alt Mobility, Yulu, Zypp, Kadam Mobility, and Mooving Urban Technologies were present to share insights.
The EV Bazaar aligns with the Delhi EV Policy and the 2023 Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme. During the event, Zomato introduced its EV Portal, designed to enhance operational efficiency by enabling faster response times and vehicle allocation for EV deployment players. The portal allows EV deployers to connect with interested delivery partners, offer EV rentals, and manage their EV inventory.
Zomato also recognised top delivery partners who use EVs, with Kinetic Green and Quantum supporting two delivery partners by providing them with a free EV. Additionally, Zomato showcased EV-focused films to assist its delivery network in transitioning to electric vehicles.
Anjalli Ravi Kumar, Chief Sustainability Officer at Zomato, emphasized the company’s commitment to transitioning to 100% EV-based deliveries by 2030. The EV Bazaar builds on previous initiatives that have encouraged around 5,000 delivery partners to switch from petrol-based bikes in FY23, furthering Zomato’s mission to reduce last-mile delivery emissions.
Shri Kailash Gahlot, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, reiterated the Delhi Government’s support for the shift to EVs, citing their environmental and economic benefits.
The event saw participation from over 1000 delivery partners from Zomato and Blinkit. The day featured presentations on EV benefits, financing options, and interactions with OEM stalls, along with test drives to provide delivery partners with hands-on experience with EVs.
Zomato has offered carbon-neutral deliveries since 2022 and has committed to achieving 100% EV-based deliveries by 2030 as part of the Climate Group’s EV100 initiative. The company’s EV program includes improving access to EV rentals, partnering with EV-based logistics service providers, supporting EV bike ownership through financial collaborations, and increasing delivery partner awareness of EV benefits.
Ritesh Mantri, CEO of Kinetic Green, highlighted the company’s collaboration with Zomato to make EVs more accessible to delivery partners. He noted that Kinetic Green aims to showcase the advantages of its scooter range, including the new e-Luna, which is designed to meet the specific needs of delivery partners.
Fateh Alam, a Zomato delivery partner, shared his positive experience with using an EV, noting savings on fuel and maintenance, as well as the environmental benefits.
