BMW calling back Mini Cooper SE electric models worldwide: Report

BMW is recalling electric Mini Cooper SE vehicles on the back of issues in the batteries, that could effectively affect over 1,40,000 vehicles worldwide, a company representative informed Reuters on 2 September, 2024.

Roughly 39,000 vehicles could be affected in Germany, the firm noted in a statement, adding that there were no known injuries or accidents in this context.

The company stated that issues in battery system could result in overheating. “A vehicle fire, even when vehicle is parked, cannot be ruled out,” a company statement noted.

Reuters noted that the car software comprises a diagnostic function that identifies malfunction in the battery and alerts the driver.

The company further noted that customers who got the message were asked to visit a Mini partner.
