Valeo, a global company specializing in mobility technology, has expanded its operations in India by inaugurating a new production facility in Pune dedicated to power electronics products.
The new facility spans over 7,000 square meters and aims to enhance Valeo’s capabilities in the electrification sector in India, with a focus on fostering collaboration, creativity, and technical excellence.
The new plant was inaugurated by Yann Keraudren, Valeo Power Asia Regional Operations Vice President, along with Jayakumar G, Group President and Managing Director of Valeo India, and Nitin Chaudhary, Site General Manager of the Valeo Pune Plant.
Jayakumar G described the inauguration as a significant development for Valeo’s presence in India, aligning with the company’s strategic goal of deeper localization and long-term competitiveness in electrification products. He highlighted that the new Pune facility would meet the growing demand for the On-Board Power Supply 3-in-1 combination unit, which integrates an On-Board Charger, DC-DC converter, and Power Distribution Unit. He emphasized that, as the electric vehicle (EV) market in India continues to expand, Valeo is positioned to provide technology solutions that are both adaptable to the local market and cost-competitive.
The new site aligns with Valeo’s commitment to workforce diversity and sustainability. The company employs over 40 individuals with disabilities and has made efforts to enhance sustainability at the facility. A 900 kW rooftop solar panel has been installed at the existing plant, with plans to add an additional 700 kW capacity at the new facility.
To further reduce emissions, Valeo has replaced its employee transportation buses with new BS VI-compliant vehicles, introduced two electric vehicles for guest commutes, and implemented various energy efficiency measures to reduce the carbon footprint of its operations.
The new Pune facility will focus on producing the On-Board Power Supply 3-in-1 combo unit, which integrates three key power electronics components: an On-Board Charger, a DC-DC converter, and a Power Distribution Unit. This integrated approach is designed to save components and allow for greater efficiency in power distribution and management within electric vehicles.
With the new facility in Pune, Valeo aims to further strengthen its footprint in India’s growing EV market while maintaining its commitment to sustainability and inclusive employment practices.
