BPCL and IONAGE strengthen partnership to expand EV charging network in India

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a ‘Maharatna’ and Fortune Global 500 Company, has announced the extension of its partnership with IONAGE, an eMobility service provider based in Bangalore. This collaboration is aimed at improving the accessibility and convenience of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across India.

IONAGE aggregates charging stations from various Charge Point Operators (CPOs), allowing customers to access a network of EV chargers through a single platform, simplifying the process for EV owners. The success of BPCL’s BPC eDrive Initiative, which was launched in February 2022, has led to this extended partnership, integrating BPCL’s EV chargers into IONAGE’s platform.

Pardeep Goyal, Business Head of Retail at BPCL, commented on the collaboration, stating, “We are pleased to extend our partnership with IONAGE. At BPCL, customer accessibility and convenience are priorities in the utilisation of charging infrastructure. This partnership will allow customers to use BPCL chargers through IONAGE’s aggregation platform.”

Vimal Kumar, CEO of IONAGE, added, “At IONAGE, our goal is to create a comprehensive ecosystem that meets the needs of all electric vehicle owners and operators. Partnering with BPCL, known for offering fast EV charging facilities, is an important step toward making EV charging more accessible and reliable across India.”

The agreement was signed by S. Kannan, Chief General Manager of Marketing (Retail) at BPCL, and Shri Vimal Kumar, CEO of IONAGE, in the presence of Shri Pardeep Goyal.

India’s transition towards electric mobility is advancing, supported by government policies and increasing consumer interest. The expansion of public charging stations plays a crucial role in this process, helping the country move towards its EV adoption goals by 2030. The partnership between BPCL and IONAGE underscores the importance of industry collaboration in advancing EV infrastructure.

IONAGE plans to integrate over 100,000 EV chargers onto its platform by 2028. BPCL’s continued partnerships, such as with IONAGE, align with its commitment to improving India’s EV infrastructure and supporting the country’s move toward electric mobility. By incorporating its chargers into IONAGE’s platform, BPCL aims to enhance convenience and accessibility for customers, contributing to India’s EV goals for 2030.
