Continental’s Technical Center India (TCI) has partnered with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, and MathWorks to introduce a course titled “Automotive Systems and Layered Architecture.” The course is designed to provide knowledge of the automotive industry with a focus on Automotive Open Source Architecture (AUTOSAR), aiming to prepare students for industry roles by bridging the gap between academia and industry practices.
The collaboration follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Continental and Amrita University in 2022, which aimed to introduce academic and research initiatives, including curriculum development, research projects, consulting, and internship opportunities.
Latha Chembrakalam, Head of Technical Center India (TCI) at Continental, stated that the partnership reflects Continental’s commitment to nurturing industry-ready talent. The collaboration integrates Continental’s industry expertise with academic knowledge, intending to provide students with practical skills and experience necessary for excelling in the automotive sector.
Prof. C. Parameswaran, Principal Director of Corporate & Industry Relations at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, expressed gratitude for the support from Continental Automotive and MathWorks in introducing a course focused on AUTOSAR, an industry-standard technology in the automotive sector. He highlighted that the course will be delivered through lectures, hands-on workshops, and industry-relevant case studies.
Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean – Academics at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, added that the course offers hands-on experience in developing scalable, modular software architecture for automotive embedded systems. Through the tools provided by MathWorks and Continental’s industry expertise, students will acquire practical skills in model-based design, simulation, and testing, aligning with current industry standards for automotive software development.
Sunil Motwani, Country Manager – MathWorks India, mentioned that the partnership aims to develop a comprehensive course at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. He emphasized that MathWorks has a background in education and collaboration with the industry, which helped in designing the course to cover aspects of automotive product development, including architecture, embedded systems, and AUTOSAR standards through a Model-Based Design framework. This initiative aims to prepare students for future roles in the automotive sector.
