After 168 days of strike and the blocking of their factory in Aulnay-sous-Bois, the employees of MA France mobilized this Wednesday, while the administrative court of Montreuil examined an appeal against the approval by the State of the document fixing the job protection plan (PSE).
In front of banners showing the boss of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, with vampire canines and proclaiming “You are putting 280 families out of work”, the employees denounce a “botched” PES which “was not done according to the rules.”
“We have a reclassification plan which is completely empty. We were able to highlight all the irregularities that there were in this procedure”, affirms Maître Laura Mange, the employees’ lawyer, at the microphone of France 3 Paris- Île-de-France. And to continue: “As of May 13, we had a judicial liquidation decision which was made very quickly without us ever having any economic information and without the CSE having been informed.”
“We were able to make the workers’ point of view heard. Nearly 300 people who were thrown onto the street in conditions of extreme brutality,” denounced Maître Marie-Laure Dufresne-Castets, another lawyer for the workers.
“The challenge to the PSE is a first step to launch all individual procedures to challenge the dismissals,” Aziz Bouabdellah, federal secretary of the CGT Métallurgie, explained to AFP.
“The first battle is not to leave with a check, it is to keep a job,” underlined an employee of the equipment manufacturer.
The MA France company, with its 280 employees, was the last automobile factory in Seine-Saint-Denis, formerly one of the densest areas of activity in the sector. Last May, it was placed in compulsory liquidation in the spring after Stellantis refused a 12% price revaluation due to increased production costs.
Owned by the Italian group CLN since 2002, MA France stamped car body parts and derived 80% of its turnover from its orders for Stellantis.
For five months, MA France employees have occupied the Aulnay-sous-Bois factory to demand reclassification assistance and an improved bonus compared to the 15,000 euros currently offered per person.
The decision of the administrative court will be rendered on October 10.
