Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd (KSSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of India’s Bharat Forge Ltd, is poised to enter a significant collaboration with two prominent U.S. defense firms, AM General and Mandus Group LLC.
This partnership aims to explore the co-development and co-production of advanced artillery gun platforms, catering to the growing demand for cutting-edge defense technologies.
As military forces around the globe confront increasingly sophisticated adversaries, the need for modern, lightweight artillery systems is becoming ever more pressing. The collaboration seeks to address this demand by developing artillery platforms with enhanced firepower, precision targeting, tactical mobility, and integrated command and control features—qualities that are vital for today’s combat scenarios.
The project will focus on 105mm and 155mm next-generation artillery systems. These platforms are set to incorporate disruptive technologies that emphasize responsiveness, survivability, and transportability. Additionally, the new designs will optimize crew sizes, reducing logistical burdens while increasing lethality. Both the 105mm and 155mm howitzers promise to offer a balance of firepower and mobility, all within a lightweight, modular framework designed for diverse operational environments.
For KSSL and Bharat Forge, this marks a strategic step in expanding their footprint in the global defense sector, positioning themselves as key players in the modernization of artillery systems for contemporary warfare.
Baba Kalyani, CMD, Bharat Forge, stated , “Bharat Forge is rapidly emerging as a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced artillery platforms for the world markets. This strategic collaboration aims to co-develop and co-produce the most versatile and innovative weapon systems.”
