Mahindra launches ‘ZEO’ Electric SCV starting at Rs 7.52 Lakh

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML), India’s leading manufacturer of electric commercial vehicles, has launched the Mahindra ZEO, an electric four-wheeler small commercial vehicle (SCV). The ZEO, designed to cater to the growing demand for urban logistics solutions, is available in two variants and is priced from Rs 7.52 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).

The ZEO, short for “Zero Emission Option,” reflects Mahindra’s commitment to environmentally friendly solutions in the transport sector. MLMML, which is known for its electric three-wheeler offerings, is now expanding into the four-wheeler SCV segment with the ZEO, aiming to electrify the sub-2 tonne category. According to the company, users can save up to ₹7 lakh over seven years when compared with a traditional diesel SCV.

The ZEO is powered by a high-voltage 300+ V architecture, enhancing energy efficiency, range, and charging speed. Its advanced electric motor generates 30 kW of power and 114 Nm of torque, while a 21.3 kWh liquid-cooled battery ensures robust performance. The vehicle has a top speed of 60 km/h and a payload capacity of up to 765 kg, with a large 2,250 mm cargo box to accommodate various business needs.

In terms of range, the ZEO offers a real-world driving range of up to 160 km, supported by regenerative braking technology. A DC fast charger provides a 100 km range in just 60 minutes, and the vehicle is available with various charging configurations, including a 3.3 kW onboard charger as standard.

The ZEO’s 32% gradeability makes it suitable for tackling steep inclines, the highest in the electric cargo segment under 2 tonnes. Its automatic transmission and Creep function are designed to reduce driver fatigue, especially in stop-and-go traffic. With a low turning radius of 4.3 metres, the ZEO also offers excellent manoeuvrability on narrow city roads. Inside, the cabin is equipped with practical features such as a dashboard-mounted transmission dial, a type-C USB charging slot, and a fully digital instrument console.

The vehicle is integrated with Mahindra’s NEMO telematics system, enabling fleet managers and individual drivers to access real-time data. Fleet managers can monitor performance, geofence locations, and manage services, while drivers can access public charging hubs, service locators, and trip planners through the NEMO app.

The ZEO comes with a seven-year or 1.5 lakh km battery warranty. Additionally, Mahindra is offering two service packages under the Safar and Safar Plus plans, which include roadside assistance, express service, and extended warranty options.

Safety is a key focus in the ZEO’s design. It is equipped with an AI-enabled camera for the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), offering features such as lane departure warnings, pedestrian collision alerts, and driver behaviour analysis. The ZEO also includes Hill Hold Assist, ensuring stability on inclines, and the battery and motor meet IP67 standards for water and dust protection.

Ms Suman Mishra, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, expressed confidence in the ZEO’s potential to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the small commercial vehicle sector. She described the vehicle as a testament to the company’s ethos of using innovative technologies to reimagine the last-mile ecosystem.

This launch signals Mahindra’s continued expansion in the electric vehicle market, with the ZEO aiming to be a game-changer in the sub-2 tonne electric segment.
