Montra Electric, the EV brand from the 124-year-old Murugappa Group, concluded the inaugural Montra Electric Super League (MSL) at its Chennai factory. Co-powered by Chola Finance, the event culminated with cricketer Jonty Rhodes awarding the winners.
The Montra Super League featured 10 teams, each consisting of 17 auto drivers, competing to cover the most kilometers. Team MSL Knights, with participants from UP, Bihar, Punjab, and Assam, won the league, while Team Hawks, representing Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, secured the runner-up spot.
Devnarayan from Noida and Islam Mohammed from Lucknow were named Super Riders of the League, and Bhavani from Chennai received the Super Shero Award. Winners were honored with trophies, medals, and cash prizes. Riders covering over 50,000 kilometers in less than a year were given the Super 50K Award.
The league aimed to address concerns about electric vehicles, such as range anxiety, by encouraging participants to maximise distances with the help of top-up charging. The scoring system awarded one run per kilometer driven, with additional points for referrals, live bookings, and customer testimonials.
Anurag Vohra, Chief Operating Officer of Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility), highlighted the company’s efforts to promoting electric mobility and supporting auto drivers. Roy Kurian, Business Head of Montra Electric’s Last Mile Mobility Vertical, focused on the inclusivity of the league, particularly the participation of women drivers.
Chola Finance, part of the Murugappa Group, pledged to provide free education to the children of the league’s finalists and semi-finalists, further supporting the auto driver community.
