Citroen Basalt scores 4-stars in latest Bharat NCAP crash test

Bharat NCAP has released results for the fifth model it has tested, the Citroen Basalt, which has managed to score a 4-star rating. The SUV-coupe has become the first model, outside of the four Tata SUVs (Harrier, Safari, Nexon EV, and Punch EV) to be tested by BNCAP, and also the first to get less than 5 stars.

Citroen Basalt BNCAP score explained

Out of a maximum of 32 points for adult occupant protection (AOP), the Citroen Basalt scored 26.19 points, earning a 4-star rating. The two tests conducted included a ‘Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test’, wherein the electric SUV scored 10.19 points out of 16, and a ‘Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test’, where it achieved an impressive 16 out of 16 points. The agency noted that in the ‘Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test’, the Basalt provided marginal protection to the driver’s chest, pelvis, and legs, which marked it down.
