Isuzu Motors India has launched the ISUZU D-MAX Ambulance priced at ₹25,99,990, ex-showroom, Chennai, built to meet AIS-125 Type C ambulance specifications. The vehicle is designed to enhance response times while offering reliability, safety, and comfort in patient transportation, aiming to set a new standard in emergency medical care services.
The ISUZU D-MAX Ambulance is tailored for the Indian market and incorporates 14 features intended to improve its functionality as a ‘Basic Life Support’ ambulance. Powered by the ISUZU RZ4E 1.9L 4-cylinder VGS Turbo intercooled engine, the ambulance delivers 120 kW of power at 3600 rpm and 360 Nm of torque between 2000-2500 rpm. This performance is designed to support swift responses during critical situations like the ‘Golden Hour.’
The ambulance is built on ISUZU’s iGRIP platform, providing a durable structure suited for both urban and rural roads. It features Hi-Ride suspension with a double wishbone system, which enhances comfort and stability. Other functional features include a shorter wheelbase, good ground clearance, larger tires, and a smaller turning radius, improving maneuverability in tight areas.
In terms of active safety, the vehicle includes Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Intelligent Brake Over-ride System (BOS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). For passive safety, it includes features such as pedestrian-friendly front design, seat belts with pre-tensioners, airbags for the driver and co-driver, a collapsible steering column, and side intrusion protection beams in the front cabin.
The front cabin of the ISUZU D-MAX Ambulance is designed for comfort, with twin cockpit ergonomic seating, high-quality fabric upholstery, and air-conditioning to ensure a fatigue-free ride for both the driver and co-driver.
The patient transport compartment is fully equipped according to AIS-125 Type C specifications. It includes warning lights, sirens, high-visibility stickers, and is constructed with rust-free and hygienic materials. The rear section of the ambulance features wide-opening doors for easy access, along with a ramp for handling the stretcher. The interior layout allows for efficient medical care, with thoughtfully placed storage units, a sliding window with a privacy curtain, and external storage for oxygen cylinders.
