JCBL Limited, a part of the JCBL Group and a provider of mobility solutions specialising in mobile medical vans, has announced the delivery of a ‘Dental Clinic on Wheels’ as part of Project Smile Himalaya. This initiative, organised by Rotary International (Germany and Bangalore), the Swami Vivekananda Sewa Trust (Karnataka), and Vision Himalaya (Ladakh), is focused on bringing dental healthcare to remote villages in Ladakh, where access to medical services is limited.
The ‘Dental Clinic on Wheels,’ developed by JCBL, is a mobile clinic equipped to handle the rugged terrain of Ladakh while providing dental services to communities with limited healthcare access. Designed and manufactured by JCBL, the mobile clinic includes a foldable dental chair, wall-mounted fixtures, and a base stool for medical staff, with capacity for treating one patient at a time and room for 2-3 patients in waiting. The vehicle, based on a Caravan chassis, is adapted to perform minor dental procedures and essential care.
Built for extended use in remote areas, the clinic can remain stationary for several days to serve populations without nearby healthcare facilities. The vehicle is equipped with a first aid kit, a toolbox, a document box, an ambulance siren, and a foldable ladder to support functionality in challenging conditions.
Dinesh Dua, Business Head of JCBL Limited, noted, “We are pleased to support Project Smile Himalaya by providing a fully equipped mobile dental clinic suited to the demands of Ladakh’s terrain. At JCBL, our experience in mobile healthcare vehicle manufacturing guides us in delivering solutions that improve access to healthcare in remote regions.”
