Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx on Independence Day at a starting price of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV has arguably been one of most anticipated launches this year and has received more than an overwhelming response.
The 5-door SUV gathered more than 1.76 lakh orders in the first hour of bookings opening and while Mahindra has not shared the latest numbers, prospective buyers who have booked the Thar Roxx have started receiving direct communication from Mahindra on the anticipated delivery timelines.
Mahindra Thar Roxx delivery timeline
While deliveries of the Thar Roxx have commenced pan-India as announced earlier, most dealers tell us that only AX5, AX7L and MX5 variants have been delivered so far, with most being manual gearbox-equipped units. Some buyers have been getting a tentative delivery timeline of late-2024 to early 2025 for these variants. Customers who have opted for the Thar Roxx 4WD with the ivory interior have also received a tentative delivery timeline of early to mid-2025, at the latest.
Our ground level checks also revealed that customers who have opted for the Thar Roxx 4WD with the more sought after mocha brown interior, and those who booked thhe higher variants of the 2WD version, especially with the automatic gearbox, have been given delivery timelines starting from mid-2025 onwards, and going up to May 2026. This hints at a waiting period of as high as 18 months for some variants.
While the long waiting period was anticipated by many, some disgruntled customers have expressed their displeasure on various social media platforms. To which, the brand has conveyed that “its process for sharing delivery dates has been designed to be fair and reliable.” Mahindra has added that “delivery timelines are determined by order in which bookings are received at dealership as well as the specific variant and colour selected by the buyer.”
Ensuring delivery of your Mahindra Thar Roxx
Once the buyer receives an official communication from the brand with the expected delivery timeline, they should inform the dealership about the delivery timeline, among other details, as dealers do not have information about the delivery timelines, for now. Once the dealer has been updated by the buyer, the showroom’s executives will follow up with the brand about that particular unit, and ensure it gets billed from the plant to the dealer in order to reach the customer during the stipulated timeline.
If there is no communication from the buyer and the dealer receives details about that particular booking, the executive will inform the buyer about that particular allotment and will wait for around a week for the buyer to respond. If the buyer does not respond in that time frame and confirm the taking of delivery, that particular unit will go to the next customer in line.
Mahindra Thar production capacity to be ramped up
As reported by us recently, Thar Roxx production capacity will hit the 7,500 unit a month mark by November. While we don’t know whether the updated production capacity has been factored in by Mahindra while disclosing delivery timelines, we do expect the waiting period to reduce gradually as more and more units are delivered.
