GM’s luxury brand is launching a new performance electric SUV early next year. The Cadillac Lyriq-V will be the first all-electric SUV to wear the V-Series badge, GM’s benchmark for performance and innovation.
Cadillac teases upcoming 2026 Lyriq-V electric SUV
The Cadillac Lyriq is getting the V-Series treatment, kicking off a new era for the luxury brand. Cadillac’s Lyriq-V will be the first EV SUV to earn the performance V-Series badging.
“The LYRIQ-V is a truly remarkable representation of the luxury, performance, and innovation prowess that are the foundations of the Cadillac brand,” John Roth said on Tuesday, vice president of Global Cadillac.
Until now, the V-Series has focused chiefly on gas-powered cars, like the Escalade and CT5. The upcoming electric SUV is pivotal as the luxury performance sub-brand shifts to EVs.
Launching in early 2025, the Cadillac Lyriq-V “pushes the performance pedigree of the V-Series sub-brand to new heights.”
Cadillac’s performance electric SUV will be available in global markets, including the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, in both left- and right-hand drive options. The company will announce more markets closer to launch.
Ahead of its official debut, Cadillac teased the 2026 Lyriq-V for the first time, giving us a sneak peek at the performance electric SUV.
As you would expect from a performance model, the V-Series sits lower than the regular Lyriq SUV for added stability and maneuverability.
You can also see added design elements, like a larger air intake and more aggressive front and rear bumpers.
Although prices and specs will be revealed closer to launch, the V-Series model is poised to top the current most powerful 2025 Dual Motor AWD Lyriq with an estimated 515 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque.
The new performance model comes as Cadillac’s regular Lyriq sales are surging. GM delivered over 7,200 Lyriq models in the US in the third quarter, up 139% from 2023. Cadillac has now sold over 20,300 Lyriq electric SUVs in the US through the first nine months of 2024.
