Forvia announces in-vehicle Microsoft Teams app

Forvia, a technology supplier to the automotive industry, has announced a safe, vehicle-friendly, Microsoft Teams application to be released through its subsidiary, Faurecia Aptoide Automotive (FAA). FAA, itself, offers innovative, secure, and user-friendly automotive apps and infotainment solutions that enhance in-car connectivity and elevate the overall user experience.

The new app, called Forvia Meetings for Microsoft Teams, will joint Forvia’s Apps Market that today encompasses more than 200 apps. Forvia has said that this app portfolio is integrated in 23 car brands around the world and is ultimately aiming to reach 20% of connected cars market share by 2025.

FAA worked closely with Microsoft to develop the seamless user experience offered by the application, a process that included ongoing pilots with European and Chinese OEMs. The app itself enables users to participate in meetings, access emails, and manage their calendars directly from their vehicles. Users can log in via email or QR code to connect to Teams and Outlook. To ensure safety at all times, an ‘audio-only’ mode is activated while driving, ensuring drivers can stay connected without compromising road safety. Through the app, Forvia is looking to help users communicate more seamlessly, and increase their overall productivity.

To comply with safety regulations, Forvia implemented driver restrictions following Android’s guidelines to limit interactions in the application while maintaining essential controls during ongoing calls. When driving, for instance, meetings are switched to audio only, while reading chats or emails are not available.

Following its launch, the app will receive AI-assisted voice commands and generative AI-based functions to increase productivity further. These features will allow the app to be controlled hands-free to enhance its convenience and safety.
