SEOUL, April 26 (Yonhap) — Four carmakers will voluntarily recall more than 230,000 vehicles to fix faulty parts, the transport ministry said Thursday.
It is the latest in a series of recalls by carmakers and importers to ensure their vehicles meet current safety rules.
The four automakers — Hyundai Motor Co., Kia Motors Corp., Jaguar Land Rover Korea and Volkswagen Korea — plan to recall 10 different models totaling 231,013 vehicles, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said in a statement.
The models include Hyundai’s Ioniq hybrid car, Kia’s Morning mini and Niro hybrid cars, the Range Rover Velar sport utility vehicle and Volkswagen’s Touareg 3.2 SUV, it said.
The problems include a faulty engine clutch in the Ioniq, fuel hose leakage in the Morning and malfunctioning air intake control software and a faulty fuel pump part in the Touareg, the statement said.
Vehicle owners can visit designated repair and service centers to have the parts replaced free of charge starting Thursday, it said.
