ZELIO Ebikes, an electric vehicle manufacturer based in Haryana, has entered the e-rickshaw market by showcasing its first two models, branded as Tanga by ZELIO, at the EV India Expo 2024 in New Delhi. The company, which has focused on electric two-wheelers since its founding in 2021, marked its expansion into the shared mobility segment during the international electric motor vehicle exhibition.
The EV India Expo provided a platform for ZELIO to display its innovations in electric vehicles alongside manufacturers of electric cars, motorcycles, buses, and other mobility solutions. The event focuses on next-generation transport and environmental sustainability, offering networking opportunities for industry stakeholders and consumers.
Discussing the company’s foray into the e-rickshaw market, Kunal Arya, Co-Founder and Managing Director of ZELIO Ebikes, explained that the decision was influenced by growing demand for shared mobility solutions like e-rickshaws.
He highlighted that these vehicles are widely used for last-mile connectivity and affordable transport in urban and semi-urban areas. ZELIO aims to bring its experience in electric two-wheelers to this category by prioritising innovation, reliability, and sustainability. Additionally, the company plans to establish a dedicated dealership network to provide specialised support and services for its e-rickshaw customers.
In addition to unveiling the Tanga models, ZELIO showcased its existing portfolio of low-speed electric two-wheelers, including the GRACY series, Eeva series, and X-Men series. Two of its newest models, the upgraded X-Men 2.0 and the high-speed Mystery electric scooter, also drew attention for their design and performance.
Since its inception, ZELIO Ebikes has built a network of over 256 dealerships across India and has served more than 200,000 customers. The company plans to expand its dealership network to 400 by March 2025, further extending its reach in the electric vehicle market.
