Many residents of the Sochaux-Montbéliard area heard, this Sunday, December 1 in the morning, several detonations around 10:30 a.m. This concerns a fire which broke out in a heavy goods vehicle parked on the Stellantis site.

The Doubs firefighters quickly intervened. According to their information, the fire broke out in a truck which contained vehicles used in electric vehicles. These batteries were probably stored in the trailer of this heavy goods vehicle before being returned to their sender.

Around twenty firefighters, as well as the national police, are deployed on the scene to secure them. The weight was fortunately parked several tens of meters from the nearest buildings, and the risk of the fire spreading is low.

The fire, which gives off white smoke, could however continue to burn for several hours, until the fuel in the batteries burns completely.
